Belgium (August 1973): General Conference of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population, Liege (Contributed a paper).

Malaysia (27 June - 3 July 1974): Speaker on world inflation and its impact on Asia at the International Trade Union Seminar for ASIA-FIET Affiliates, Kuala Lumpur.

Indonesia (26-27, April 1975): Executive Council Meeting of the Council for Asian Manpower Studies Inc, Jogjakarta.

Belgium (12-15, April 1977): Seminar on Patterns of Response to Family Planning Programmes, Liege (Presented a paper on Socio-economic Development and Family Planning).

Thailand (6-8, November 1977): Training Seminar on Demographic, Economic and Social Investments, organized by the U.N. Asian Development Institute at Bangkok (Speaker on Population and Development).

Finland (August 1978): Special Meeting of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population on Demographic and Economic Change: Issues for the 1980s, Helsinki (Presented a comment on an assigned paper).

Japan (11-14, October 1978): Seminar on Poverty Levels at Different Levels of Development, Sapporo city (Presented a paper on Consumption Patterns in Singapore).

U S A (August - October 1992): Visiting scholar attached to the World Bank, Washington DC Worked on a paper on Graduate Unemployment in Indonesia. Visited Stanford University to present a seminar on Income Distribution Trends in East and South East Asia, Boston University to present a seminar on Economic Growth, Poverty and Income Inequality, Iowa University to present a seminar on Current Issues in Development Economics, and Indiana University (Indianapolis and Bloomington) to present a series of seminars on Economic Growth, Poverty and Inequality; Unrestricted Labour Mobility and World Development; and The Essence of Hinduism.

U S A (11-18, April 1993): Visit to the Kennedy School of Government and the Harvard Institute of International Development, Harvard University, Boston, and the Economic Development Institute, World Bank, Washington DC, in connection with the preparation to teach the course on Development Policy in S. E. Asia in the Master of Public Policy Programme at the National University of Singapore.

Indonesia (24, October - 20, November 1993): Consultant to the Regional Manpower Planning and Training Project of the Bureau of Manpower, National Planning Agency (Bappenas), Government of Indonesia, Jakarta. The consultancy is for the preparation of a technical report on regional industrial policy and manpower development.

Thailand (29-31, August 1994): Meeting of the Socio-Economic Working Group of the International Network on Bamboo and Rattan, Bangkok (Participated as a resource person on socio-economic data and analysis).
