Most of the work involved guiding and inspiring relatively young researchers at GIFT. A book on Intellectual Property Rights and another on the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant have been the major products.

Designed and offered a 12 lecture course of close to 40 hour duration on “Globalization: Trends and Issues” to 30 mid-career civil servants of the Government of India (belonging to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, Indian Railway Service, etc).

Hon Research Professor, GITAM Institute of Foreign Trade, Visakhapatnam (August 2001- February 2003):
Inspired the faculty to do research and instituted the GIFT Discussion Paper series. Prepared the first ever district development report, The Visakhapatnam Development Report, 2003, with contributions from GIFT faculty and other experts. Was in full charge of the 15-month activity comprising an initiation cum brainstorming meeting, funds mobilization, selection and supervision of authors of background papers, series of meetings to review the papers, preparation of the draft Report, meeting to consider the draft, preparation of the final draft and publication and dissemination. The activity brought together, on more than one occasion, the elected representatives, academics, captains of industry and trade, and government officials of the district to deliberate on the Report in particular and development of the district in general.

Designed and offered a number of courses to undergraduates and postgraduates. Notable examples are the courses on “World Economy: Evolution and Issues”, “Income Distribution Analysis” and “Development Policy in Southeast Asia”.

Economic policy work concerning the country of operation and preparation of studies pertaining to poverty and income distribution.
